Kevin De Bruyne returns from injury for Man City in FA Cup

Image
Kevin De Bruyne made his long-awaited return from injury during Manchester City's FA Cup clash with Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon. Belgium international De Bruyne, one of the best midfielders in the world, has been missing since the Cityzens' first Premier League Game of the season back in August when he suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the 3-0 win at Burnley. The 32-year-old was named in the squad for the 2-0 victory over Sheffield United in City's last game of 2023 but finally re-entered the fray in the FA Cup third round tie with Huddersfield at the Etihad Stadium. De Bruyne came on with his side 3-0 up after goals from Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Oscar Bobb, though Foden soon grabbed a brace before Jeremy Doku - also returning from injury - struck City's fifth from a De Bruyne assist. The former Wolfsburg star's return is a major boost as City look to ditch the malaise that plagued them during the first half of the 2023/24 season. ...

Rubio Rubin could leave MLS and return to Mexico

Rubio Rubin could be making a move in 2024. The striker, who is a Guatemala international, is on the radar of Querétaro, according to sources consulted by ESPN. Rubin, who is under contract with MLS side Real Salt Lake, has already begun negotiations with the Mexican club , one of the worst teams in last season’s Liga MX, finishing 14th in the standings. The Guatemalan only scored two goals with the North American team last term, having played 24 Game s, 15 of them as a starter, in the shadow of Cristian Arango, who in less Game time scored six goals for the club. Return to Mexico Should negotiations be finalised, Rubin would be joining his third Mexican club, following spells with Xolos de Tijuana and Dorados de Sinaloa, the latter in the Liga de Expansión, formerly known as Ascenso MX. With Sinaloa, he played 43 Game s in which he scored just seven goals, while with Tijuana, he played just 21 Game s, scoring one goal in his spell on the border. Despite being born in the city of Beav...

Rodri injury: Progress & potential return for Man City midfielder

Image
Rodri was carrying a slight limp as he gingerly made his way on stage to collect his latest individual accolade. The midfielder who had already been voted the best player in last season's Champions League and Nations League was awarded the Golden Ball for the 2023 Club World Cup. To cap Manchester City's treble-winning year, Pep Guardiola's side thrashed Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense 4-0 in the global showpiece. Rodri was forced off in the second half of the final in Saudi Arabia, although victory was all but a formality by that point - if not long before. As several beaten Fluminense players bitterly highlighted after the contest, some City players had sauntered through the closing stages with an air of arrogance. While Jack Grealish was accused of taunting 'oles' - which he denied - Rodri watched the final 15 minutes wincing from the bench. Here's the latest fitness updates on a player whose absence is always keenly felt. When will Rodri return from i...

Image
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is a welcome face back at the club's Carrington training ground as he continues his recovery from a foot injury . The centre-back return ed to action in pre-season but ended up aggravating the problem when United faced Arsenal in early September. Ruben Neves: Potential destinations as Arsenal & Newcastle eye Premier League return

Image
It is looking increasingly likely Ruben Neves will soon return to the Premier League from the Saudi Pro League after just half a season in the Middle East. The Portugal international left Wolves in the summer of 2023 as one of many Premier League stars who decided the riches of Saudi Arabia were too much to reject. His move was arguably one of the biggest for the Saudi Pro League given he is in his peak years and was a touted target for many top clubs in Europe. It's one thing to convince ageing players to join the league but Neves was playing in the Premier League in his prime years and was linked with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona for a move. Two of the best teams in the Premier League are now looking very seriously at bringing the Portuguese midfielder back to England, and here's a closer look at the potential options available to Neves. Anthony Davis injury update: Lakers star expected to return to lineup on Monday vs. Pacers, per report

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is expected to return to the team's lineup on Monday night for their matchup with the Indiana Pacers, according to Dave McMenamin. Davis sat out of the Lakers win over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, though it seems that was more of a precaution than anything.  "Just it being a back-to-back, the load he was carrying, specifically with [LeBron James] out, it's just the smart and right thing to do," Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said on Saturday. "We don't want to push him this early in the season. And when you're talking about different muscles and ligaments, it's something that can easily turn into a year-long issue. So just to avoid that, we don't want to put any additional strain on the area. "The medical people decided it was the right thing to do and I totally agree." Injuries have been a major issue for Davis lately, w...
